Hello I’m Tracey Coleman owner of The Turquoise Easel, LLC and I’m a mixed-media artist residing in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The name Turquoise Easel is derived from 2 of my favorite things, the rich color turquoise and my easel!

 

I’ve had a natural affinity for art since my childhood! While growing up in Washington DC and attending magnet schools, I was exposed to DC’s countless art galleries, arts district, museums, and a multitude of extra- curricular art educational classes and outlets. 

 

As an intuitive creative, I rarely begin with a clearly defined picture of what I’m creating. Rather my mood moves my selection of paint colors and I allow the process to determine the direction of what I’m feeling and what I want to see in the world! 

 

My work employs layers as I use acrylic paint, oil pastels, handmade papers, textiles, collected stamps, and other bought and found items. My work is most often artistically crafted on canvas or paper. I’m a strong believer in letting go and allowing freedom of play to release the creativity that produces original art! Art is my natural decompressor and gift that never stops giving... 

 

I have the greatest family support! My husband backs my artistic endeavors in every way, much of my artwork is inspireid by my beautiful daughters and then there’s my dog, Sammie who is often by my feet while I create.
